This Week:
Gingerbread Celebration:
An email with the sign-up for our Kindergarten Gingerbread Boy Celebration went out from your Lead teacher last Thursday, December 4. The celebration will be held on Thursday, December 18th. The students will still need to bring both a snack and lunch to the celebration next week.
The link will close this Tuesday (11/9) and the 2 homeroom volunteers for each section will be notified on Wednesday after running the lottery system. Thank you for your generosity!
Reading Bags/Check-Ins:
Reading logs still need to be signed and completed each night for homework. Please make sure that your child brings their reading bags back to school each day in their backpack. We will start reading with your child one-on-one this week (our goal is twice a week per student; however, it varies by week when your child reads with their teacher and how often). Your child will receive a new list or book, as the teacher assess for fluency and comprehension when reading with each scholar. Thank you!
Parent-Teacher Conferences Round 2:
Conferences on Wednesday (1/7) will exclusively be offered via Zoom. Conferences on Thursday and Friday will exclusively be in-person which we highly encourage. Zoom links will be sent out later, via email to the applicable families. This will take place at the end of Independent Study Week from Jan. 7-8 (Wed.-Fri.). Please sign-up as soon as possible to secure a spot before the link closes which was sent out by GHNO.

Independent Study Projects:
Packets were sent home last Wednesday, December 4th. At the top of the packet, your scholar's assigned animal was written. Please read through the packet, and have the project fully completed by Jan. 12, 2025, to be presented in front of the class. This will count as a test grade in science for next quarter. Do not send any completed projects ahead of the due date before break as they should be completed during Independent Study Week. Thank you!

Homework Reminders
- Be sure to read daily for 20 minutes; 100 minutes this week. Reading Logs will be collected next Monday. Please record on the Reading Log page. If you miss a night, please record 0 minutes and initial rather than leaving it blank.
- Spalding handwriting practice. Spalding homework will continue to be in the Written Phonogram and Spelling Word Review format-please read the GH logo homework sheet for instructions. Monday-Wednesday scholars write the list of phonograms and words once; on Thursday in preparation for our spelling test the list is written twice.
- Memorize poem by Friday!
