This Week:
Our final literature Tall Tales celebration will be on Thursday, March 5th. In preparation, we kindly ask that each child send an empty paper towel roll which will be used to make hammers like John Henry (please no toilet paper rolls or other rolls, as these do not work well). Thank you in advance!
The Tall Tales Sign-up Genius link will be sent this Wednesday (2/18).
The Signup will be open for FIVE days to allow all interested parties to submit their name. To enter the lottery, you MUST have a cleared volunteer background check on file with the front desk. Visit https://www.ghnopso.org/ for all required forms. If your family has previously volunteered for the grade level twice you may enter your name, but it will be placed on the waitlist to allows others an opportunity. This signup OPENS on February 18th and will CLOSE on February 22. Teachers will run the lottery on February 23 for 2 volunteers per homeroom section.
- Please send non-perishable donations in by Tuesday, March 3rd.
- Perishable food must be delivered the day of the celebration, March 5th.

Reading Bags/Check-Ins:
Reading logs still need to be signed and completed each night for homework. Please make sure that your child brings their reading bags back to school each day in their backpack. We have started reading with your child one-on-one, and our goal is twice a week per student, however, it varies by week when your child reads with their teacher and how often. Your child will receive a new list or book, as the teacher assess for fluency and comprehension when reading with each scholar.

Homework Reminders
- Be sure to read daily for 20 minutes; 100 minutes this week. Reading Logs will be collected next Monday. Please record on the Reading Log page. If you miss a night, please record 0 minutes and initial rather than leaving it blank.
- Spalding handwriting practice. Spalding homework will continue to be in the Written Phonogram and Spelling Word Review format-please read the GH logo homework sheet for instructions. On Tuesday-Wednesday scholars write the list of phonograms and words once; on Thursday in preparation for our spelling test the list is written twice.
- Memorize poem by Friday!
