Kinder Weekly Updates Q4W9 (May 11-15)

 Hello, Kindergarten Griffins!

We hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend, and our moms felt celebrated and appreciated for all that you do. We also want to sincerely thank you for all the love during teacher appreciation last week. Whether it was a sweet treat, volunteering to help, a generous gift, kind email, beautifully decorated door, or a handwritten note from your scholar, it truly meant so much to us!

Please note that Friday, May 15, will now be a full school day at Great Hearts Northern Oaks.

Reading Bags and leveled readers were collected today. We are sending home the reading logs in red folders to be completed by reading a book of choice at home- it will still be a grade that is taken up next Monday.

We will begin sending home desk materials a little at a time, so they are not carrying it all home on the last day. Please have your children empty their backpacks each night (other than red folders and black folders tomorrow, which need to be returned to school) so they are cleared out for the next set of items going home. We will have academic lessons and tests all the way until the last day of school. The last of the materials will be sent home on the final day, Friday, May 22nd.

Looking Ahead:

Kindergarten Promotion

Each student will wear a graduation cap and a tassel along with their Great Hearts uniform. Your child’s cap and tassel can be ordered via the following link: 2026 Kindergarten Promotion Ceremony Cap & Tassel These are one size fits all and sold as a set for $12.  The set will be delivered to school.  Please complete your order by TODAY so we will be ready for Promotion!

KC and KD Sections: 12:30 AM

Each ceremony will conclude with light refreshments for the families and scholars to enjoy before the students return to class.

All scholars will need to arrive at school on time as usual, and we will have our regular mid-morning/afternoon schedule following the ceremonies.

Coins for Math

We are asking that each child bring coins in a Ziploc bag for math. Students will be using the coins for the next couple of weeks. Please send the following coins with your child: 10 pennies, 5 nickels, 5 dimes, and 4 quarters.

Classics to Keep

This week we begin reading our last classic to keep!
